Visa appointment tracker: what German missions actually publish

No appointment waiting time is published for national (employment) visas. Applications run either through the Consular Services Portal (with an on-site appointment booked at the end of the online process) or via VFS Global at the location responsible for your place of residence.

Türkiye publishes the most detailed waiting-time breakdown of any corridor in this tracker — and the longest figures. For national visas the missions state: employment including the Chancenkarte between 1 month and more than a year, studies 1 to 4 months, family reunification 2 months to more than a year, adaptation measures 2 to 9 months. The three missions differ from each other; the Federal Foreign Office states that it is working on harmonising and reducing the waits. Appointments in every category are allocated strictly in chronological order of the registration date, which makes registering early the single decisive step.

Booking: Registration runs either through the Federal Foreign Office's Auslandsportal (digital.diplo.de, for the categories available there) or through the external service provider iDATA — the missions state that iDATA is their only external service provider and that third parties have no access to appointments. iDATA charges a service fee of EUR 39.92 and/or an appointment booking fee of EUR 12. The missions warn explicitly that registration is not yet a legally effective visa application, and that waiting times of several months also apply to Auslandsportal registrations.

Tunis publishes concrete waiting times and updates them: employment visas (including au pair and the voluntary social year) currently take about five months from waiting-list registration to the appointment, family reunification more than twelve months. The embassy states plainly that special or brought-forward appointments cannot be granted and that enquiries about them are not answered. Since 15 January 2026, waiting-list registration for family reunification runs exclusively through the Auslandsportal.

Booking: Skilled-worker employment (EU Blue Card, degree-holders, recognised vocational training), the Chancenkarte, studies and vocational training can now be applied for online through the Auslandsportal. Several categories book directly with the external service provider TLScontact without embassy waiting-list registration — among them nurses, doctors attending a professional language course, language courses, and holders of a pre-approval under the accelerated skilled-worker procedure (§ 81a AufenthG) together with their families applying the same day. The embassy warns that it allocates no appointments through agents, advisers or service providers.

Manila is one of the few missions that publishes concrete waiting times: up to 1 month for nurses and most other purposes, up to 3 months for family reunion or marriage.

Pristina publishes waiting times per category in its visa FAQ: qualified employment and EU Blue Card appointments usually take about 2 to 4 weeks; family reunification usually a few weeks; training and study places usually days to weeks. For the Western Balkans regulation, a pre-approval obtained by the employer from the Federal Employment Agency speeds the procedure up considerably.

Since 18 July 2023 the external service provider VisaMetric receives the applications for a defined list of national visa categories — among them employment under the Western Balkans regulation, contract workers, studies, language courses, the voluntary social year, river cruise crews and professional truck drivers; further categories are announced to follow. Appointment booking itself is free of charge, and the embassy states that all available appointments are visible and bookable by everyone, so engaging an agency brings no advantage.
